What's The Difference Between A Chip & A Programmer?

Postby TillmanSpeed on Fri Jul 25, 2008 11:55 pm

We sell custom burnt SCT chips, primarily for OBDI and OBD0 vehicles. These are vehicles that were produced before 1996, and do not have the updated OBDII diagnostics port. This port allows a handheld flash device to download and write programs to your PCM. If your vehicle is older than 1994 (excluding a few 1995 models that were considered "OBD1.5" that happened to have the OBD diagnostics port) , then you must use a 4-Bank "piggy-back" style chip. The SCT 4-Bank chips allow for the user to switch on-the-fly between 4 Different Maps, as well as a stock file, and Valet Mode which will keep the vehicle from starting. The 4-Bank chip has a minimal amount of work required to install. We can write our custom tuning files to the chip, install it onto your PCM, and that's all!

Our handheld flash devices plug in underneath the dash, and allow for easier and quicker access to the vehicles PCM. It also allows us to datalog hundreds of parameters that tell us how your vehicle is running. It also allows us to read and clear check engine lights. The handheld flash devices store your factory tune, so that you can easily return back to stock. The newer X3 Powerflash devices are able to custom tune your vehicle with our provided files in just a few short seconds.
